Holiday feelings with a polycarbonate canopy enclosure from Exolon Group

Once the COVID-19 pandemic has passed, where better to unwind from the stress of it all than in the world’s largest thermal spa?

Located on the outskirts of Munich, Therme Erding is a massive wellness and relaxation park promises a revitalizing visit reminiscent of sunny getaways – even in the dead of winter. This summer holiday feeling is achieved in no small part thanks to the polycarbonate multiwall sheets from Exolon Group that comprise the transparent dome enclosing the resort.

Warm and sunny through the winter with polycarbonate roofing from Exolon Group

Bright, transparent domes enclose the thermal wellness and water park sections of Therme Erding, creating an open-air ambiance with natural lighting. Numerous palm trees and other tropical plants complete the island oasis setting. Multiwall sheets of polycarbonate from Exolon group ensure excellent thermal insulation, sealing out the bitter cold of Munich winters and ensuring pleasantly warm temperatures year-round.

Beyond warmth and beauty, safety also has an important role to play in helping spa visitors relax.  Exolon’s multiwall polycarbonate sheets carry a very good fire safety rating and comply with B1 building regulations.  With six layers comprising 20mm thickness, this i-line range of multiwall sheets holds Bs1d0 certification in accordance with European Norm EN 13501-1, meaning the sheets will not form burning droplets if on fire.

Lightweight yet long-lasting: Multiwall sheets from Exolon Group stand the test of time

When the weather is nice, the glazed dome can retract in a matter of minutes. Compared with glass, Exolon’s polycarbonate multiwall sheets have a very low surface weight, making this speed possible. The 23-meter-high dome over the thermal spa area was installed in 1999, featuring glazing of Multi UV 4/25 No-Drop sheets for ultimate protection against hail and condensation. All of this was possible with a surface weight of just 3.7 kg/m². For the roofing over the sauna area, Multi UV 6/20-20 sheets offered an optimal surface weight of 3.1 kg/m².

What’s more: The high-quality, lightweight polycarbonate multiwall sheets from Exolon allowed for a delicate, aesthetically pleasing composition in the understructure of the domes. The effect is that every visitor is presented with a wellness experience that is expertly crafted down to the finest detail.
